정체성 모색 Seeking for Identity 



머물던 땅에서의 여정을 마무리한 노마드는 이내 또 다른 곳을 찾아 떠난다. 방랑하는 자들은 그들을 둘러싼 관계의 맺고 끊음을 반복하고 그 과정에서 또 다른 자신을 발견해 나간다. 고정된 삶에서 벗어나고자 했던 노마드적 움직임이 다시금 각자의 정체성을 찾게 한다는 것은 다소 역설적이다. 그러나 그들이 새롭게 맞이하는 정체성은 스스로의 존재가 하나로 정립되도록 두지 않는다. 노마드는 타인과의 접속을 통해 복수로 존재하는 자가 되기를 누구보다 열망한다. 그리고 지금 이 순간에도 역동적으로 움직이고 있다.

물리적 장소를 넘은 정신적 이동은 노마드가 자신의 정체성을 고민하고 깨닫게 한다. 이동 중에 만난 타자와의 필연적 만남은 그들의 정체성에 깊은 영향을 끼치고, 이는 곧 새로운 자아의 생성을 촉발한다. 그렇게 노마드 예술가는 지극히 사적인 경험을 바탕으로 스스로의 정체성을 견고히 하거나 때로는 익명의 누군가를 통해 새로운 자아를 대변한다. 그렇게 존재의 의미를 찾아 면면히 자기자신을 직시하려는 노마드 예술가의 궤적을 여기 이곳에 공유하고자 한다.

Concluding their journey on the land where they once dwelled, the nomads soon set off in search of another place. Wanderers repeatedly form and break relationships with those around them, discovering new aspects of themselves in the process. It may seem paradoxical that the nomadic movement, aimed at escaping a fixed life, leads individuals to rediscover their identities. However, the identities they encounter anew do not seek to establish themselves as singular entities. Nomads, more than anyone else, aspire to become multiplicities through connections with others. Even in this moment, they are dynamically moving. 

The mental journey of transcending physical spaces prompts nomads to contemplate and realize their identities. Encounters with others during their travels inevitably impact their sense of self, leading to the emergence of new identities. Thus, nomadic artists solidify their identities based on deeply personal experiences, sometimes representing new selves through anonymous others. Here, we share the trajectories of nomadic artists who seek to confront themselves and find the meaning of existence through various facets of their being.
