Artist’s Note
« Seeking for identity » is a very evocative theme for me.
It's fuelled by an enormous amount of questioning and latent periods of doubt and fear.
But it's also the opening of a portal populated by unknown things.
Born in the 2000s, my search for identity was fuelled by social networks, blogs and the media. Video is the most explicit and immediate medium for conveying my feelings and sensibility on this theme.
This video is a purely contemplative piece that invites us to follow the protagonist as he wanders. He seems pensive, following a path through a latent atmosphere.
He is a character prey to various existential questions and interrogations.
This piece suggests a reflection on the parent-child relationship and the construction of an individual in his environment.
The slow, hypnotic movement of the video is a technical and aesthetic investigation that highlights the time it takes for an individual to acquire his or her own skills, voice and personality.
The soundtrack features a text by Khalil Gibran from his novel "The Prophet", which illustrates the idea that a child is an entity in its own right and builds itself accordingly.
The idea behind this video is to immerse the viewer in a feeling akin to lethargy, and to take time to contemplate the gentle images contrasted by the raw aesthetic.
